Tablet Wars- Death of the netbook?

The tablets are coming and they are coming with one of the strongest pushes ever! If you say what's a tablet I would just say "where you raised on a farm or living in a cave for the past year". Everyone is bringing a tablet out from Apple, Blackberry, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Toshiba, and even Sony has finally jumped onto the bandwagon. Now with all these tablets coming out I just thought to myself, these little guys can't replace a desktop or a laptop but what about a netbook? I personally own a Asus Eee Pc that my wife and daughter mainly use. They love it but I find that the keyboard is just to flaky to me and I would prefer a touch screen over any day. 

Now it's a little to early to say that tablets are a game changer but based on what the iPad has been able to do in a matter of a year it's not a far fetched idea. Let's just look at the idea that Apple pitched for the iPad "essentially a basic computer that even your mother or grandmother could use to access pictures, documents, music and browse the internet. Well with the rise of cloud storage (online storage- wikipedia) that allows for storage of files online the use of large size hard drives. Amongst this most of the new tablets are coming out with dual core processors that are almost comparable to netbooks currently.

So with this all being said is the death of the netbook soon in sight or is the appeal of the tablet not yet there? In my opinion I think the death of the netbook is near due to adoption of touch phones and the current embrace of technology by older internet users. The simplicity of the tablets is just to enticing and I feel that the tablets hold a great value in the medical field, industrial and even the retail fields. It may be to early but with everyone from Apple to LeapFrog (child interactive toy maker) making a tablet the potential is definitely there!
