Apple has finally announced the highly rumored Verizon iPhone 4 and the people tortured by AT&T's lack luster network are rejoicing! Well before you jump from your current carrier to Verizon for this phone read this article and see why you should hold your dollars and wait a couple of months before pulling the trigger on this deal.
First, the iPhone 4 is a nice phone but it's not a new phone, just new to the verizon network, and to those that know about phone hardware it's actually lagging behind as far specs and options (contrary to what any Apple fanboy would say). The Verizon iPhone 4 in fact may just be a hardware refresh.
Second, though this phone is known as the iPhone 4 it is not a 4g phone! Even on AT&T's version of the iPhone 4 it is not 4g, it is strickly only a 3g phone!
Third, AT&T's network could not handle the traffic that the iphone brought to their network. Can Verizon handle the pressure that iphone 4 could bring to it's network, even though they already have so many Android devices on it currently that use more data than the average iPhone user?
Fourth, unknown to general consumers that are not into tech, the iPhone 4 had a lot of issues. Some of these issues are related to the phones design like the all glass casing cracking and just shattering along with Antennae issues causing an entire loss of network coverage if held wrong. Reviewers of the Verizon iPhone have not been able to replicate this with version.
Besides these design flaws of the phone there are the issues of apples proprietary designs. What I mean by this is, most phones have a replaceable batteries, the iPhone doesn't which is a headache if you have a battery issue and you have to go into a verizon store, that's always a fun trip :( , or better yet send it all the way back to Apple. Alongside this, Apple has their own type's of wire's that can only work on Apple product's. So if you don't already hate wires around the house you will begin to now (sorry no sharing a charger with a friend unless its an iPhone).
Fifth and the most important reason not to get the Verizon iPhone 4 is, based on iPhone update schedule there will be a new iPhone released this June! Along with this, and it's just my belief due to Verizon not having an exclusive deal for the first CDMA iPhone I believe that the iPhone will be introduced on other networks before this summer.
That's it for my breakdown on why you shouldn't get the Verizon iPhone 4, I do think the iPhone is a great phone but in my technical opinion I feel it's behind on the technical side. It's too restricting and locked, but the later can be said about Android being too open.
