Facebook is using you for ads!

Everyone loves Facebook, almost everyone uses it, but did you agree to help advertise for them? Your probably wondering how you could be advertising for Facebook?

Well it's as simple as writing a wall post or simply leaving a comment on a post on a company fan page like Starbucks. As illustrated in the image (allfacebook), you post something like "the new chicken sandwich at Mcdonalds is great" and if McDonalds is advertising with Facebook they can pull your post and use it as if you left a comment on their Facebook page.

Some people may be saying that they don't care about it but would if the post revealed you were at a restaurant even though you were meant to be somewhere else? Like revealing you left work to grab some lunch even though you didn't take a lunch? These types of ad services can be very helpful but the negative part is your unwilling participating.

Now that your getting more of a visual you probably asking, is this legal? Per your terms of agreement to use Facebook, it is, but this item is still new. The main thing you want to ask is, does your privacy matter? Some have even suggested that eventually this could lead to catered ads scrolling on your Facebook feeds.

In my opinion I love Facebook, it keeps me in touch with family all over the globe and makes it easier to reconnect with old friends, but I use it wisely. The first thing you have to think about is, your using their website for free and they have to make money some how. Second, with anything in life, think before you act. What I mean by this is in reference to people that post stuff about where they are or what they are doing when they are suppose to be at work. Keep in mind that this is the internet, all your information is open to the world whether you like it or not, if that bothers you then be cautious on how you use the internet.

With this being said I think that if you post on a company fan page, where there are thousands to even a million fans you must be prepared to have that information used. It may not be fair but in this time of social media it is starting to become life as we know it.
